Deeply influenced by the shifting light, weather, and landscape of the Scottish Highlands, Aimee Coulshed translates these natural elements into one-of-a-kind linen textile artworks.
Aimee graduated in 2019 with a BDes (Hons) in Textile Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. That same year, she exhibited at New Designers in London, where she was awarded the Romo Award for Innovation in Design and Colour, as well as a One to Watch Colour in Design Award. Since then, her work has been exhibited by Edge Textile Artists Scotland, Visual Arts Scotland, and Alchemist Gallery.
See the below slide for Aimee Coulshed’s body of work from ‘Must Be Scene In Person’ at Leith Makers.

By exploring colour and form and embracing the inherent texture and qualities of her materials, she creates pieces that evoke a sense of calm and quiet contemplation. My colour palette is often limited; I find painting in monochrome hugely rewarding, often painting large studies quickly to test ideas for composition. Recently, however, I have been challenging myself to use a more diverse range of colours.
